Nothing happened yesterday still want to scan his heart before deciding if the chemo tablet caused the heart pain I am sure it was anyway he was moved middle of date to cardiac ward was going to have shower but put him on heart monitor. Then get a message not doing scan until 4pm because it is nil my mouth and that have given him breakfast other day wasted. It seem to many people involved and lack of communication should be used to it by now
Aww really feel for you Jkee. If court doesn't mind me mentioning Jay has had a time of it recently with his numerous `visits` to the hospital as Court would put it he's on a `bungee rope` - better not speak too soon he's getting bloods done tomorrow again and hopefully they'll come back clear and he can actually stay at home for more than two weeks. Jay had to have his chemo stopped just before after Christmas. His first round of CAPOX last August went well for 4 sessions but at the end of the 4th he became quite ill. He tolerated the first 3 no problem and sailed through them. A few months later he got started on a new regime of 5 FU (Folfori and Irinotecan). He got one session of that done and then when he got his bloods done for his 2nd session it showed up as him being dehydrated so he was admitted to the Beatson Cancer Hospital in Glasgow as his kidney function had dropped and he was there for 12 days taking in New Year so this was the first time in 39 years we had been apart on New Year's Eve. It was found out that the chemo had done some damage to his kidneys and so he had to get a catheter fitted which he now wears along with two nephrostomy bags one on either side of his back and stoma bag due to his bowel resection in 2021 because of his tumour. He was only home weeks at the start of the year and he fell ill again with another infection which turned out to be sepsis and he had to be re-admitted this time to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital he was shivering uncontrolably and his blood pressure dropped again and he was first taken to resuss and then to High Dependency. and was put on intravenous fluids and that was when they did the nephrostomy. So he got sorted with that and then two weeks ago he was back in with we think the tail end of the first infection which obviously hadn't cleared the first time. It's been an absolute nightmare. He is under physio just now to get his mobility going again. Seemingly Sepsis can affect mobility so the community physio is coming out to help with that. He said the other day he feels his legs getting stronger again so here's hoping. Hope Simon pick up soon. Take care
Vicky

I get what you mean JKee! In the 4 years since he has retired, its been hospitals, clinics, GPs for Jay. When he worked for 40 years+ he hardly ever took a day off sick and barely saw the inside of a hospital- if only to visit someone. He wasn't one for going to GPs either just trying to shake off illnesses himself being `Mr Dependable` Just before he retired he was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and we worked on that before Covid getting his weight down and eating healthily but then everywhere shut down due to lockdown and at the end of 2020 was when the symptoms of his bowel cancer began to surface. When he got diagnosed in 2021 the surgeon told him the tumour had been there for 4 years previous without showing any symptoms, so he was walking around with it all that time and didn't even know. They got all the cancer at the beginning of last year 2022 and we thought that was the end of it- we were over the moon! but unfortunately in May/June last year cancer decided it wasn't finished with Jay and made a return. Ironically it was on our anniversary 21st June that the surgeon called us in to tell us it had returned. His bloods has shown a rise in CEA levels and he was sent for another CT scan which confirmed it was back. He gone for the happy-go-lucky cheeky chappie I used to know but now and again the `cheeky banter` surfaces from time to time and that's when I see the `old Jay` coming back. We have a little granddaughter and was roped in to help with the childcare while our son and his partner worked but we like you we seldom see much of her now as Jay says he can't have her at our house he feels he can't interact with her the same and she just loves her `papa` and it hurts so much to see that. I just keep hoping for `brighter days` to come his mobility has taken a backstep too because of the sepsis and he has community physio coming out to help with that but mentally, this whole thing has done a number on him- me too for that matter because this `journey` affects both the person going through it and those supporting them. I just want to wake up one day and see it all gone but know that may never happen now. Take care of yourselves.

Oh gosh this is soo us Simon had never been to a doctor in 28 years did not tell me he had problems but he is self employed working 18 hour days but started to not work and sleep i just said one day in December you ok think you need to see doctor and he said yes please. The main problem is he is full of jokes with everyone and hides pain and will not bother nurses or doctors just spoke to him on phone just had more blood I know the oncologist is in out patience today so I said when doctor comes round hopefully say heart ok say right I need the oncologist to get me back on chemo adjust it or what ever otherwise you will be home on no treatment and wait for another appointment but all he says I will do whatever they say wish I was there but no one to take me today. I get upset thinking what life was like. Just spoken again oncologist will see in in clinic next week as our original appointment if scan is clear which he is happy no chemo I'm thinking that will be 2 without xx
