Can’t sleep

It’s been a week now since the colonoscopy and I’m driving myself absolutely mad waiting for the MDT. I can’t sleep. Every twinge I am frightened it’s cancer spreading. Looking for any ‘signs’ I could be stage 4.

I also made the mistake of consulting Dr Google on Monday which was a terrible mistake.

I’m just so exhausted but I don’t want to go into my fears too much with my family and friends as I don’t want to upset or worry them.

I spoke to my lovely nurse on Tuesday but she couldn’t say the words I want to hear - that everything will be absolutely fine and I have nothing to worry about.

  • Hi ,

Had to delete that as I made an error and I can’t edit ! But many people report the same . Their body is under extreme stress and they have multiple symptoms from that .

I really hope you hear soon .

    Take care ,

  • Bless you

It’s a very anxious time. Dr Google well I did that and terrified myself

The nurses are angels my first ones name was Anneka and she really helped me get through but like you say she was unable to say I’d be okay

I had a colonoscopy then CT then MRI then endoscopy with ultrasound and imaging. It seemed to go on but they needed to get all of the info to decide on my treatment. Mine was rectal but they treat their patients individually and we get our plans dedicated to our needs

Take a deep breathe and push it to the back of your mind. I took the mind of they would have to deal with the cancer and I would look after my mind and body.
Eat as well as you can, treat yourself to things you like chocolate or a good movie. I found apps on my phone that helped me learn to meditate. Only free ones as some can be a catch. They gave me head space

Every twinge I had like you I thought it’s spreading. If you’re having discomfort give your nurse a ring they will advise pain relief. I was uncomfortable and had a lot of discharge after my colonoscopy. They were reassuring

    Take care

Im sending you a hug x
