Emergency surgery!!!!

So! What a week...... After being poorly with tummy ache on monday and tuesday hubby was took into hospital with bowel obstruction due to growth. Had emergency surgery that night and now in recoveryThinkingIts just been one thing after another and feeling really anxious now as to what is going to happen regarding his treatment for the bowel and liver cancers.ThinkingShrugWearyCry

    So sorry to hear that . They roughly give them around six weeks to recover from surgery and then start treatment . 
    Did the primary bowel tumour get removed or did they bypass it ?

    Either way they head back to treatment wherever possible then rescan once chemotherapy is finished and see if there is other options like surgery etc after that .

    First to heal and recover from this difficult situation .

    You will be absolutely exhausted so remember your good nutrition etc for yourself .

  • Hi. Thanks for the reply. They removed the growth and repaired the colon. keyhole surgry was done. So hope he recovers quickly and feels better about the whole diagnoses now that they have removed the growth. Its just all very emotional and draining. He is still very sleepy and sore but in good spirits....im not doing so good..very emotional and cant seem to switch off and very anxious about whats next are they going to throw at us Disappointed relievedPersevereUnamused

  • I totally understand. All I can say if you need to speak to your GP do so . I have on many occasions and we all need a little help in this life from time to time . This is not easy to watch but it will improve .

    Thats great the primary is removed . That’s a significant tumour burden out his body and less work for the chemotherapy to do.
