Evening all,
I hope everyone is doing okay.
I wondered what side effects people have had on steroids? I have just had my 2nd round of Folfox Chemo and taken 4 days of steroids, like last time after the first day I have been in floods of tears and unable to do anything. Has anyone else found that?
Thanks,
Bex
My mum was given steroids after her chemo and for the first few months she found she couldn't sleep. She mentioned this to her macmillan nurse and she had said about cutting them down. She was taking 4 (2 morning 2 lunchtime) she was advised to try cutting them down to 2 and she was able to cope on this and her sleep improved greatly.
I was very emotional after the FOLFOX infusion - moved to tears by the slightest thing. Call the Midwife became unwatchable until well into the second week after infusion. So I hope you’ll find this effect wearing off over the fortnight.
Thank you that is good to know, I feel like I am going mad.
I am sorry you have experienced the same thing.
Did it get any easier?
Yes, both during each cycle and then once the FOKFOX course was over. We need to be kind to ourselves and give ourselves the room and time to let the side effects unfurl and then recede.
