Has anyone drastically changed their diet after having cancer because they are worried certain foods or drink gave you cancer ?
I’m scared to eat and drink a lot of things because I always think, what if that, what if this gave me cancer. It sounds stupid but it’s a genuine worry. I try to eat healthier now anyway but some foods I do miss out on just in case.

After my left Hemicolectomy in May '19, I came home from hospital, & immediately resumed my normal diet. I personally did not change anything - dietary, or otherwise.
However, three years on, I realise now that there are certain things that upset my gut. For me, it's eggs & coffee - both of which have me rushing to the loo. & So, I have not given them up entirely, but have limited myself to a tiny cup of coffee in the morning, & maybe one egg a week or two.
I lost about 12" of my bowel, & apparently, food goes through such a shorter system far quicker. Coffee is very acidic, & can play havoc on your digestive system.

I can understand your concerns looking for blame in the diagnosis. I have thoughts on micro plastics in our food chain
Its not proven and a thought that pops in when so many younger people are getting it.
I try and eat organic and as healthy as my system will allow after my operation my diet is quite beige
Try not to worry about food causing health problems just eat as healthy as you can and more importantly eat what you really enjoy

Diet has been a challenge for months for me. I was advised to stick on low fibre, low residue diet post surgery but with no guidance to get ready for chemo suitable diet.
NHS guidance has been hard to get, even when oncoligy nutritionist was met with a few weeks ago - Bowel cancer diets seem to be rather unknown.
I have sought advise from a charity who i'm booked in for 1-1 session in Feb (delayed from initial appt offered in Jan).
I defo struggle with various stomach pains and toiletting (accidents and consistency) when i try "normal" diet, so keen to get resolution.
At mo i've reverted more to low fibre, low residue diet but with a little rainbow aspects that meant to help during chemo:

I know exactly how youre feeling, I too am having those thoughts about food im putting in my body. Theres some pretty extreme cancer free diets out there and so much contradictory information. I have known people on the most extreme of these diets still not manage to prevent cancer from returning and spreading. I have a pretty balanced diet in general but ive bought some new recipe books, a vegetarian one and a Mediterranean plus one for fussy kids. My thoughts are to reduce the amount of red meat and dairy i eat, eat a few more veggie dishes (which my hubby says he will promise not to moan at!!) and mainly try to do more dishes from scratch.
My lifestyle is pretty healthy and I dont really believe it was my diet that caused my cancer but its the only thing i can have some control over so I will improve it.
Personally and after all of my research (of which there has been LOADS) I’ve turned to a wholefood, plant based diet.
there’s way too much evidence out there now highlighting risks of processed foods, dairy and meat consumption. Conversely there’s so much emerging research into the benefits of whole foods and it’s incredible, healing affects on our bodies.
i also find it extremely empowering to know that I’m taking control of my diet and my cancer.
