Merry Christmas to all I don't really know what to say I hope everyone on here is not feeling alone.

Me I had my first chemotherapy 21st December and since then all I've done is slept, ive had the anti sickness tablets for the first 2 days after chemotherapy although I feel nausea at times I do not want to take the other anti sickness tablets given to me as I really do not  want contispation.

I just feel I have no energy I just want to rest, I know we experience different side affects.

I keep saying come on get up get dressed have a shower then I see the couch and think I just need a little rest.

my family live  away and staying in a hotel it is not suitable especially with it being flu season,

I am really sorry If I'm sounding selfish I am just really down and fed up, yes I have partner but. I feel if I say anything I will be nagging

  • Hi Flower123.

Sorry the chemo has wiped you out. I do know the feeling - i started chemo a few months ago and still have many to go.

There are likely to be phases where you feel better than now, but i would suggest you let you specialist nurse or oncologist know how it's effecting you as they maybe able to tweek things.

I'm also trying to stay away from nausea meds and found ginger definitely helps me.

Here for you - you are not alone

  • Hi   sorry you’re feeling so tired from chemo. I don’t think mine has been as bad as yours but I have found the tiredness the hardest part to deal with as I’ve always been quite active. Every day I think I’ll go for a walk and like you, I see the sofa and don’t get any further! What I’d say is our bodies are going through a bell of a lot and I think it’s ok to give in to it all. I’ve had 4 sessions so far and each time had a bit less energy. It’s all very normal so don’t feel so down on yourself.
but, please do speak to your partner, I think they struggle more then we realise as they don’t know what to do or what to say. I always try to keep it in but always feel much better once I admit now I’m feeling to my partner! Good luck with your treatment and I hope you feel better xxx

  • Hi Flower123

I hope you are doing okay today.  I had my first chemo nearly 2 weeks ago now, due another lot in a few days.  I was completely wiped out for a few days, and also felt sickie. Ask about other antisickness tablets they do different types,

    Take care x

  • thank you for your reply's did manage to go to the beach yesterday for a walk weather crap today, has any one having difficulty with number 2 sorry straight to the point,

    Thanks all

  • Am afraid that can be a side effect of various chemo drugs. If you don't manage to go naturally for a couple of days, flag it to your Acute Oncology team and they'll offer you laxatives

  • Yep! This has been a problem for me also, I was given some laxatives to help so def speak to your onco team!
