Finally had my results back from my double cancer surgery.

The mastectomy showed that the cancer was cleared with good margins and no lymph node involvement. My oncologist said they will see me again after my bowel treatment for radiotherapy and hormone therapy.

My bowel surgeon thought the tumour had spread to my abdomen but thankfully it hasnt. It was removed with good margins and no lymph node involvement :) Still cant believe it!

My colorectal nurse did say that my new oncologist will explain the histology results in more detail because she wasnt able to as she didnt have enough understanding. It did make the hairs on my neck stand up a little that there was something else going on to complicate matters.

For now its an Amazing Christmas present for me, my husband and my gorgeous kiddies. Tonight i wont grumble about sorting out the bloody christmas elf but be thankful.

  • Hi

Is that not just the best news . No lymph node spread in either primary.  Clear margins and a good prognosis.

I have to say I think you have had an incredibly rough time and just delighted to read this . You and your family must be delighted with these results .

Now to recover , heal and take the time you need to process this . I need to pop out but will link in a good article about the stages of recovery when I come back .

For now , you enjoy every single moment and relax for a bit .

  • Thanks court. Its certainly been a tough year.

I saw my oncologist and she said
I have a rare form of bowel cancer plus braf mutation and ive now been staged at a high risk stage 2. theres only one chemo i can have because of this and it will be for 3 months, starting first week of Jan.
Should it come bk i wont be able to have any chemo and theyd have to have a go at something else.
    Its really floored me.

  • Hi

The gold standard is surgery and hopefully that’s done the job for you . Honestly I have seen people with low risks of recurrence come back her and people with high risks walk away .

Stage 2 is also very positive for good margins .

Its a lot to process but don’t let the fact it’s all removed and with good margins slip by as these are very important too .

Bowel surgery also drops off for recurrences after two years so the further you are away from your surgery the less likely it is to recur .

    take care ,
