Hello!
i wish I could say it’s good to be here!
Cushion advice - does anyone have any recommendation? We are pre surgery and just about to embark on the whole radiotherapy and chemotherapy.
My partner is uncomfortable when it sitting, which puts direct pressure on his tail bone. We had a doughnut cushion lying around for a family member but it didn’t work, as it felt like it pulled things apart.
I should add he’s a big guy. There are some weight limitations in some of the ones we have have seen. There are a number of coccyx cushions out there. Looking for personal experiences. .
Many thanks
Hi Puzzle!
I'm no expert but have you tried one of those bolster cushions you can get to fit inside a chair. They're square and sometimes you find them in the home sections of catalogues or just look online. We have one for Jay after he had his bowel resection to help him get up off the chair as it helps you sit a bit higher up and fits on top of your sofa or chair cushion wherever you want to use it maybe try one of those? All the best.
Vicky.
My hubby is a `big fella` too. I got that cushion for him for after his surgery to help him get up from the chair as his mobility was a bit limited as it was when he went through his op to have his tumour removed. He's a bit better now though apart from still having chemo treatment
.
Hi Puzzle. Ive read about people using Valley cushions in the past but I think they’re quite expensive? Do you have a local Disability ship that may be able to help?
And welcome to the board - nobody wants to be here but we’re all at different stages of treatment and recovery and happy to support you and your hubby through this.
If you click on my name then you can see my treatment to date - bowel cancer is very treatable nowadays especially if caught early
Take care

Hi
I had an issue after surgery luckily I have a few pillows. I used two vertical touching at the top a one across when sitting and sleeping two place back and head
Try experimenting until you can find the right position for comfort the suggestion from Patty was my next step. I was going for the triangular type. But managed with what I had
Hope this helps
Ann
I have a" barbie bum" and was told to stay away from donut cushions as they put pressure on where you dont want it
The district nurse who came to change the dressing ordered a blow up square affair from the red cross on loan .it was excellent and I returned it afterwards.

We have hired one of the valley cushions. A good way to see if it works. And it does! He is so much more comfortable. So I think we are going to bite the bullet and just get it.
oh and thank you for the offer of support it really is a minefield. I’m trying to get use to the forum. Not finding it easy to access. I had only noticed your reply just now.
Glad the valley cushion is helping Puzzle. You should get an email notification when someone comments on 1 of your posts unless you’ve selected not to?
Hope the chemoradiotherapy goes well
Take care
