Having Oxaloplatin with Raltotrexed chemo tomorrow following a 5 day stay in hospital after an allergic reaction to 5FU. Obviously worried after reading the info sent to me so wondered if anybody had hints or tips on how to cope with side effects particularly the throat spasms.
Many thanks.
Hi Lin601
My mum was told to take a flask of tepid water ( not boiling ) and start sipping it if she felt it coming on . Wrap your mouth up with a big scarf when leaving the hospital .
My mum had it once and they slowed her infusion which resolved it .
All the very best .

Hi ,
The only time my mum had an issue was straight after chemo infusion and going home . I had the house nice and warm and a nice bowl of homemade soup . Straight to bed and slept it off .
She wore wee gloves and socks after that but not a scarf inside .
