bowel cancer
Hi aardvark19 and welcome to the board. I had oxaliplatin - ‘affectionately’ known as poxy oxy - by IV followed by capecitabine tablets. Everyone reacts differently to chemo but my arm was very painful - in fact I couldn’t bear clothes touching it - snd I had a picc line put in after a couple of sessions. Other side effects were reactions to anything cold - face twitching and legs tingling when outside and I wore gloves for getting things out of the fridge. I had first bite syndrome for the first few days and my legs would feel a bit weak.
Ive attached a link to a post we did about chemo top tips but if there’s anything that you’re particularly worried about then please ask
Take care

I reiterate all karen has said as I had capox too..I just want to add that side effects tend to tail off on the rest week so plan something nice.I could even eat freezing ice cream that week with no problems.
Do you know which chemo you are having as they have different side effects.
Also if you click on peoples names that have had chemo you can read how they fared
All the best
Kath
Hi, I had 5FU infusion, which didn't take long once they had found a vein! Its just it was for 30 weeks, so the first couple of days were a bit rough, then better, then time for the next dose!
How you feel is very dependant on which chemo, and the regime by which they give it to you. You just have to trust the oncologist to pick the right one for your situation. Take care.
