Hi guys, I have a quick question, what happens after Chemo finishes? I have a CT scan and then three weeks late a consultant appointment? Do they give results then if I’m clear? What should I do to prepare for scan and consultation? Just a quick background update, I had bowel cancer for which they removed the whole large colon out with the two tumours. I was advised to take chemo to get rid of any bad cells? What happens next? I’m so worried. I don’t want further treatments as I’m already suffering from side affects.
many thanks. Sabrina
Zara Hi Sabrina. Yes the consultant will give you the scan results then that’s it! You could ask what to expect in terms of follow up scans/bloods/colonoscopy and how often? I expected to cartwheel out of the hospital but I felt strangely deflated and realised that I was ‘on my own now’. The paper below is very good at describing and dealing with the after feeling
Hope the side effects clear up quickly and well done on completing treatment and being cancer free
Take care
Karen x
