Hi everyone

wondering if anyone can give any advice, I have rectal cancer and starting radiotherapy, into my third session today and afterwards have very acute pain in both legs.  I just can’t get any relief whatsoever, pains killers aren’t working. Any advice will be welcome

  • Hi Smileymo

Im sorry you are having pain in your legs.
I was in for a LAR first as my type wasn’t suitable for treatment it needed to be removed as I was close to blocking.

Others will be along that have had the same, I have found since joining we are individually treated.

Can you phone your team tomorrow? They can advice you on your discomfort or maybe the radiotherapy unit?

I am not sure that you should be in pain your GP could give you some stronger pain killers, mine was really good with pain management.

I hope that you have some relief from the discomfort. Keep us updated.

  • Hi, , did you manage to contact your team for advice?

  • Spoke to the team at the hospital, nothing serious which was a relief. No strong pain killers though. If I can’t manage have to go back to them. I am managing it at the moment

  • Sorry I’ve only just joined but was really glad to read that you managed to contact the team you are under and they didn’t feel the need to give you strong painkillers

inam in remission, well 7 months now but I found that a foam roller was good for leg and back aches may not work for everybody though

    stay strong x

  • I use that too. It helps a lot
