Hi

Just seeing if anyone has had to miss a chemo for a week due to being unwell. Gary got took to hospital on Sunday they’ve treated him for an infection, all his bloods are ‘normal’ for him inc white cells. Sent home same day with antibiotics for 5 days, but we’re absolutely gutted his oncologist has postponed his final chemo session this Thursday and rearranged for 7 days later. He’s very low now in his mood because we we was looking forward to it being done and getting along with having a scan etc.  Worrying about the effect missing a week will have on the cancer. If anyone has ever experienced this could you please reply x

  • Hi . I missed a chemo due to low white cell count and was put back a week but then carried on as normal. Hopefully he’ll still be able to have his scan as planned? I think they’ll want to make sure he’s recovered from his infection before hitting him with another chemo.

Hope the scan and meeting with the consultant go well

    Take care

Thanks Karen, his scan has been put back but hopefully just by a week or so. It makes sense what you said about the infection x

  • Hi, , mine was weekly chemo, and yes it got stopped a few times for bloods, they just added them on the end!! Take care.

  • hi, I was too frail after my 2nd Colostomy Op to have belt and braces Chemo. I was worried any miniscule cancer cell left in me would have it's wicked way. That was in 2011. Wishing all the best. Kath H2
