Hi all ,
I'm new to this group
I have my 1st appointment with the oncology team 2moro to speak about what the plan is for my chemo , all I know is its going to be once a wk for 6months ,
I'm feelin a bit anxious to be honest , on one hand I want to gwt it started on the other hand I'm worried about how it's gonna make me feel and all the side effects
Hi Jospongebob, I had chemo weekly for 30 weeks, 5FU and LC. But it depends which chemo you will have. Click my name if you want more info, but basically I could just about work throughout. All the best for tomorrow.
Hi Jospongebob
as Gemmary has said it’s most likely 5FU and LC (LV) That’s the only one I know of that’s weekly for 30weeks again you can click on my profile but I’m almost on week 20/30. (Tuesday 26th April)
thry had to reduce my dose very early on as liver doesn’t like it but I’m stable at 88% instead of 100%. Gemmary you said you were reduced what was your reduction do you remember?
the regime says a 5 minute infusion ( which it is) except I am usually in 90mins by the time the get the cannula in ( consider a PICC line) give the antiE and Dex wait 30mins to the LV then 5min 5FU and flush
I feel a little nauseous at 24-48hrs (but not enough to take extra meds) and after that it’s fine. My skin is starting to take a while to heal (mozzie bites etc). But the good news I’m still working 28-30hrs a week and playing golf 1-2x a week, we have also been doing a lot of patio renovating over past 3months too. So whilst it affects everyone differently it is possible to function pretty normally !! Fatigue is now just starting to be an issue in the evenings
Gemmary . I’m soooooo close to the final 10 !! YAY !! My weekly Just one more mantra starting to kick in !!
xx
Hi parky2170 ,
The treatment they have told me I'm having is Xerox ( capox) a mixture of iv and tablets ,
The treatment will start in 2wks ,The course is 8 cycles of 1 day oxaliplatin iv then capecitabine tablets the evening of day 1 to the morning of day 15 and then have a rest period of 7days , it sounds good to me as I only have one day at the hospital and the rest tablets at home ,
There is so much to take in and then you have the list of possible side effects that there are ,
I was hoping to be able to carry on working but because of the job I do the doctors have sed I can't work which is a bit of a blow but I guess they know best ,
Sounds like you have managed to carry on practically normal which is great , you have come so far and bein positive is definitely a big plus I think
Thank you for the help
