Hi my husbands immunotherapy has been stopped because it caused colitis the plan now is to do watch and wait with 3 monthly scans and if anything progresses in this time they will put him on 2 forms of chemo and and also panitumumab has anyone experienced anything like this please?
Hi Gemmary and Hayley , Must apologize but I'm not able to help here because although I have been on watch and weight for a long time it's a specific type of watch and wait after a complete clinical response to radiotherapy so I don't have any experience relevant to your husband's situation Hayley. I'm just sending good wishes for a good treatment outcome for your husband, Hayley
Take care.
Hi Hayleyc89
This was part of the approach they spoke about with my mum and why she ever had post op chemo . Their view was not to treat invisible disease only disease that was evident in the scan and thereby storing up chemotherapy options to be used when needed as opposed to using up the treatment options when it’s potentially not required . She had six months of chemo then a six months gap . They were also able to keep using the same chemo as she had achieved that gap ( prescribing guidelines at that time ) . So had shrinkage each time but has only ever used one chemotherapy combination for a stage 4 spread that has been in both her liver and lungs .
It used to be used a lot in the past .
As a carer for me I think the win was in the time off all treatment . Her body was able to strengthen again and put her in a better position to tackle the next issue . I also think it gave her immune system a big help . Just my own opinion . She has never had chemo for belts and braces . Any time she had chemo it was directed by disease evident on her scan .
For me it allowed some quality of life too and it balanced the whole thing out . We went on holidays etc .
Good to know the plan if required too . That always gave me some comfort .
Take care ,

We feel happy with this approach and like you say he can rebuild himself I keep looking at holidays and making suttle hints to him ha ha I've heard the panitumumab can only be used once so I feel it does make sense to keep it stocked up until he needs it. Xxx
That’s the spirit Hayleyc89 sometimes I feel a little guilty and think of all the times I dragged my mum on holiday but my husband was just saying maybe it was what kept turning her around . Who knows !
The funding of some things is quite complicated . Is that the one you are not allowed too long a break on ?
One thing for sure my mum regained her strength and that matters .
Hope he is picking up after his hospital stay .
