Hi,
I’m a 39 yr old female and had a colonoscopy last week where they found a 3cm malignant polyp on a stalk with likely deep SM invasion. I’m awaiting my CT scan which is next week and biopsy results. Anyone with experience of this? And any idea of likely staging? Does it mean it’s likely they will have to resection my bowel?? Panicking about it having spread too!
I’ve had high b12 levels for the last 3 years… which I’ve been convinced that it’s cancer related and now it’s been confirmed. I had scans of my abdomen/ liver/ pancreas/ gall bladder in 2020 and all was ok… but they never looked at my bowels.
It couldn’t have come at a worst time, I have 2 young children and I’m in the process of separating from my wife and trying to move house! It’s been the worst few months of my life and now this is the icing on the cake!

Hi
Just want to welcome you to the forum . I will leave others to go through the practical aspects as they have the experience. I just want to highlight bowel cancer is very treatable especially caught early .
A lot of surgery is now done through keyhole surgery where possible . You might be surprised at they sped of which they are discharged after it . I have linked in an NHS leaflet on polyps but I think they all work to the Paris classification. You can Google it as it explains it fully there .
If they think a polyp is malignant they generally do a bowel resection . Your ct scan will give your team more information and get a good treatment plan in place . This gives much more direction and most people report finding this aspect more helpful .
You are only human and it’s natural to think it has spread but even then bowel cancer still has a lot of treatment options . My mum is still here 12 years later . I only share that to try and encourage you not because I think it’s a concern .
Sorry to hear you are having a tough time just now but we are here to support you .
Take care,
Court
