After a FIT test I had abnormal result.  This resulted in a colonoscopy and a CT scan.  Luckily for me I had benign polyps removed and biopsies taken also diverticulosis and haemorrhoids.  The path results were clear.  I realise that I am lucky but hearing what others experienced helped me while I waited.  You get so scared.  The thing is my bowels have not been the same since.  Definitely more constipated. Careful I eat high fibre diet.  Drink loads of water.  Can a colonoscopy cause this.  Trouble is I suffer health anxiety bad.  So sorry to post on a cancer forum.  But I joined when I really convinced myself I had cancer.  Your posts are so positive.  Thankyou.

  • Hi Deptfordgirl

Its a scary journey and the anxiety it causes is hard to manage. You must be delighted that you are cancer free. That’s a huge weight off your mind.
I didn’t have constipation after my colonoscopy but that doesn’t mean that it can’t happen. If you think about the clearing of the bowel for a colonoscopy there wasn’t much to process after I had mine so maybe if you had some prune juice or similar you may find things move along well.
contact your GP if you’re concerned hopefully they’ll get it sorted for you.

  • Thankyou Artsie .  I have spoken to my GP but her answer was to rake laxatives.  She wasn’t much interested.  I expect it is something I have to work out myself.  My bowel habits have changed don’t know why really.  Anyway my problems are probably minor to some on this forum.  Regards Irene

  • Maybe it’s the removal of the polyps.
Hopefully things settle down. Our bodies don’t like being pulled about
