Hi Hooe everyone is doing OK don't come in here mu h now

I have my CEA bloods next week feel my anxiety growing this cancer diagnosis never leaves you does it ?

  • Hi HazG

I agree the Cancer fear stays with me too. It’s in the shadows and pops up when I have to make contact or scan or bloods.
For me it’s early days I have been told by my sister it fades into the distance with time. She’s twenty years breast cancer survivor

  • All the best with your blood test . You have done incredibly well and this part will soon be over . Keep in mind bowel cancer recurrences tail right off after the first two years and that is the science !

Hope it brings good news for you .

  • Dear HazG. Am also going through scanxiety just now, and I hope Court’s reassuring message helps dampen down our fears. I’ve recently turned to CBT and found it really helpful. They introduced the idea of thinking traps, distorted ways of thinking that can fuel our emotions. After all we’ve been through with treatments, ops etc, we can be kind to our minds and give them some TLC.

  • All the very best  . It’s a horrible process but hope it also brings good news . I ended up with a love /detests relationship with scanning , all 35 of them my mum went through . Hated them with a passion but grateful for the few that literally saved her life .

Hope it’s over soon for your too and you can relax for a bit .

    Take care ,

  • Thanks court reassuring words.

I just keep thinking I've come this far  I can deal with this.

    Xx

  • You can for sure but you are only human and it’s a tough process .

Once my mum started scanning well I started to consider each scan putting more distance between her and cancer . Then the scans started to get further and further apart and we only had to think about it once a year for a while .

    Take care ,

  • Hi HazG , totaly get where your coming from . Every check up brings memories flooding back . All the best with your blood test . I have mine next month . Already started thinking about it . I try and tell myself , at least we are being regularly checked , so if they do find something it’ll be caught early .
    take care, Nelly x

  • Hi Nelly, I’m on my last chemo Friday, then scans in 4/5weeks. Keep well and be kind to yourself. Sending hugs xx

  • Hi HazG, really know what you mean. Take care and sending hugs xx

  • Ahhhh great to hear from you Nelly, I’ve been wondering how you’re getting on . Can’t believe it’s your last chemo on Friday . I bet you can’t believe you did it . You are truely stronger than you think . Best of luck with your last one . I found the last one much easier mentally which made the physical side effects so much better to cope with . Hope it’s the same with you ,

    lots of love , Nelly B X
