Hello again xx
I am doing my 8th cycle of chemo next week, oncologist said about maintenance chemo, I really not sure how that goes, does anyone else have this.
Also think I having radiotherapy on elbow not sure when, hopefully very soon.
Thanks

Hi Bud 18
I think it can have slightly different meanings depending on your primary . In lymphomas I think it’s used to prevent a relapse when remission has been achieved but in colon cancer a person does not need to go into full remission but have good disease control /stability to the point the oncologist is happy to balance it out to more manageable levels at a lower dose preventing less severe side effects on the body . My understanding ( which is limited ) it can include targeted therapies like biological therapies etc as well as chemotherapy .
I think it’s also more in the chronic condition approach and you will see some people on it for five and six years . That’s my own understanding but it is a positive in terms of how your oncologist feels about your treatment .
Sounds as though your doing very well !
Take care ,
