Hi guys I’m having CAPOX treatment as a precaution after surgery. Everything was removed including 22 lymph nodes. I have previously had 6 cycles Folfox prior to surgery. Yesterday I had oxaplatin infusion through Iv and it was the most painful thing I’ve ever had. I ended up having half the meds as it was so painful. Today my arm feels like stinging nettles, I’ve used hot water bottle and it seems to relieve the pain. Are there any other remedies I can try?
I have decided to get a picc line as well although I had issues with it last time. Any advice will be appreciated
Hi Nyanyen38. My arm was the same and I was close to tears when they were pulling off the sticky tape after my second time.I then had a picc line fitted and it was such a relief. I used a warm wheat bag and cut the toes off a pop sox and pulled it up my arm to stop my clothes irritating it!
To be honest I would say the pic line is the way forward
Take care
Karen x
I’m not sure if it eases but the nurse said it’s better to get a picc line which I will in a few weeks x
Hi . The arm pain from the infusion eases off after 2-3 days. The tingle you get from touching anything cold lasts for longer but can be better on your week off. I used to drink blackcurrant juice and add a splash of hot water to take the edge off it x
The tingling tends to recede on your week off.likewise the effects of cold drinks etc.I could even eat ice cream on my free week and clean my teeth with cold water.
