l’ve finally finished my 8 cycles of chemo, which I am so, so glad about. But now I feel a bit lost as to what happens next after spending so long being wonderfully looked after by the NHS. I’ve got a meeting with the oncologist consultant next week and the surgeon the week after but no idea what happens next, aside from being screened for the next two years. Is there any advice or guidance on what I should expect now. Thanks!
Yey! Hope this works! Hope it helps. I showed my boss at work as well.
Hi Gemmary
Thanks for re posting this link. I had read this a long time ago, but read it again, and it’s such a good piece of writing that really does describe what it’s like after treatment. Useful for everyone I think.
Hi 17ontheinside and congratulations on finishing treatment. Yes it’s a strange feeling and I felt like my comfort blanket had been taken away from me. The link that Gemmary has sent you is very good and there’s also a Life after Cancer board which is very good.

Some hospitals run a Moving on from Cancer event so you could ask if there’s something like that available? The old adage of time is a great healer is very true and each clear scan or CEA test will help you move further on with your life.
Take care

Thanks so much for sharing this. It’s amazing how much of this resonated with me and felt like it was written just for me. I will re-read again tonight - without the tears this time!
Thank you. It does feel like a bit of an anti-climax when in fact it should be a huge relief. I’ve got an appointment at the Beatson next week, so fingers crossed it’s all gone and I guess then I’ll celebrate that.
