Hi. I have advanced bowel cancer with spread to liver and abdominal lining.  I have had 6 cycles of oxyplatin and capecitabine but this hasn’t worked and I have more tumours in my abdominal lining. They are now going to try Irinotecan IV with the oral capecitabine. This new IV drug seems to have more side effects and I am a bit worried. Just wondered if anyone has had this chemo and has any tips.

  • Hi

I am sorry to hear this but some people actually find it  manageable . I will tag in  as I think her husband had it .

Quite a lot of people have used it in the past . If you click on the search function , top right hand side ( small magnifying glass) you can read other people’s experiences.

    Take care ,

  • Hi my husband had a combination of irinotecan, 5fu and oxalaplatin this worked and shrunk the tumor enough to operate but unfortunately the cancer returned after surgery so my husband is now on nivolumab immunotherapy he's last scan in November 21 was stable he just had he's second scan today will get the results in 2 weeks time.

  • Thanks Hayley it’s good to hear. They have said that I have too many tumours for any kind of surgery but hoping that maybe the chemo will work to at least control things. Fingers crossed that your results are positive
