Hi all
I posted several weeks ago with many a question, then again to let you all know the op went well & just want to update you all with the results…
Ok so it’s fantastic news… after being told I had a 5cm tumour & 2 lymph nodes affected. Small bowel was fused to large bowel, large bowel had even fused back on ittself & during the operation the surgeon found the bladder had also joined the pile up & had to slice apart!!
Despite all of this I just got the all clear cancer is all gone, 22 lymph nodes taken & all tested negative…Team say no chemo required!!! Surgeon still wants a chat with oncologist as feels as bladder was connected I may benefit from some but oncologists decision would be final. Should also be saying goodbye to Flo (my stoma) in 6 months
So miracles do happen so to all of you out there hold on.. positive mind, positive thinking & who knows.
Thank you for all your wonderful help, support & advice.
Ive signed up for a 26mile walk in May for Macmillan which my surgeon says I am fine to do & has even said he will sponsor me.. what an amazing man , I am so lucky to have him.
49days from diagnosis to all clear… God bless the NHS & all you wonderful guys out there ️
That’s fantastic news Fidge and thanks for sharing - I know I always searched for positive posts when first diagnosed. Good luck with the walk and perhaps you can send us a link to your sponsorship page nearer the time?
Take caee

As long as Flo flows. It takes a little time to settle. she’s playing with the dogs. They must wonder what’s happening with you tummy.
There’s loads of info and support from the stoma group here. They helped me so much early days and still. Night and day management, diet and a laugh at times I’ve found it’s kept me sane.
Stoma nurses are amazing at getting the right products for the job.

Hi Fidge,
That is really great news and the 49 days must be some sort of record. Sounds like you are going to do one of the Macmillan Mighty Hikes. There are 14 around the country allowing 13 or 26 miles, good on you for doing the long bit. I had said to the family that if I got the two year all clear next month I would do the 13 mile one on the south coast but my wife and hips have suggested leaving it to someone younger!
So do post your sponsorship link nearer the time, if I cant walk it I would like to support those who can.
All the best for the future, John
