Hi Big Sister of 3. Yes the term scanxiety sums up waiting for scan results pretty accurately doesn’t it? Does it get any easier? Yes but over time. My oncologist told me that most reoccurrences occur within the first 2 years and by 3 years things are looking pretty good so I tended to view each scan as a step closer to each landmark. They are a necessary part of your follow up treatment and, if anything untoward did show up, then regular scanning will allow it to be dealt with promptly. I’ve read people saying that they view them as ‘If it’s clear then great, if not then I know it’s been picked up quickly and can be dealt with.’
Im sorry I’ve no magic ‘cure’ other than try to keep busy and distract yourself
Take care
Karen x
