Hi folks
It might take me a while to find my way back in hear again but I will find it eventually I have a temp stoma due to bowel cancer, I wanted to ask others that have not long had a bowel cancer op and wares a stoma bag, did your stomach swell, I have went up 2 trouser sizes due to the
tomach and did anyone else's? If so will it go down or is this it
Untill I get things reversed? Any information would be great many thanks xx
Hi Greente
I had a LAR August with an Ileostomy. My surgery was keyhole and incision so I was very swollen. I think even my head looked big. Not sure why I wore two sizes up in pants and loose dresses Being female it was easier
After a while the swelling subsided and I was up a size for my tummy. As I have a large scar I am still swollen there. I’m not sure my tummy muscles are up to much they’ve been pulled about. I lost a stone in weight which is par for the course with an Ileostomy.but still have the tum.
My clothes are okay but I have stretch in my jeans.
when did you have your op?
Ann
Hi artsie
I had my op on the 5th November last year, I am normally a size 12 but now tops and jackets are a 16 as they won't tie otherwise around my tummy, but are all to big on the sholders my op was done by robotics, never done this before in the hospital I was in, so i was the first one there but aparently it went well, my stomach isn't the best ither as I have a scar up to my belly button due to having my overys removed 5 years ago, would love a tummy tuck but that isn't going to happen, thankyou for your info on the swelling and I hope mine goes down a bit aswell, take care,
Hi Greente
You're still early days. I dropped a stone in weight and have now levelled off. Ileostomy’s tend to cause weight loss though I still have a bump belly. As I’m retired I think I’m lucky that I can wear lots of tunics and stretch trousers.
My friend recently had tummy tuck it was £9,000. I’m sticking to Lycra She did have good reason, And she does look amazing
