My mum was diagnosed with rectal cancer and secondary groin lymph node cancer 18 months ago! She’s had chemo and then chemo radiotherapy and the primary tumour appears to have gone however it’s getting worse in the lymph nodes! She’s going to be starting 5fu and immunotherapy soon!

has anybody got any experiences of getting rid of secondary cancer in the groin lymph nodes

  • Hi

Sorry to hear your mum has more to endure . It’s hard to see them go through more . My friend had a spread in too many places and Immunotherapy actually resolved everything for quite a while . She only had one small breakthrough patch which she had radiotherapy for .
She had it in her spleen , fractured sternum from a tumour , hip and liver and I think some lymph nodes .It completely resolved.

Unfortunately it was different primary but it had already spread to her brain ( bowel cancer rarely does this ) and that became more of a containment issue due to location .

However it was really efficient. I see she is having it combined with chemotherapy ! Is it a trial ?

Great to see this treatment being used more and more .

Send your mum our best wishes and I hope it goes smoothly for her .
