New to this forum and thank you for allowing me to chat on behalf of hubby whose food I prepare and cook. 7 years post rectal cancer and he was doing really well with diet and maintaining a good weight. Following a hip replacement things didn't go as planned and diet went awry resulting in a lot of weight lost ie 3 stone. Cancer team cannot help as op was such a long time ago. Recent CT scan shows all clear. Whatever goes in seems to pass out. Advised to use loperamide (3 x Tds) and we've tried absolutely every type of food including high fibre, low fibre, BRAT etc etc. He now wants to eat (he didn't post hip op) but he is still going to the loo too frequently and now sometimes with great urgency which will prevent him leaving the house. Hubby, although 78, is usually very active . We've tried 400 Frusebin not as a replacement but as an addition. Any offers of advice / comments would be gratefully accepted. Thank you
Hi and welcome to the board. Great news that your hubby is still cancer free after 7 years but strange that his bowel is now playing up? Is he on any sort of medication after his hip replacement? You sound to have tried all the usual options so maybe give the nurses on here a ring and see what they suggest? They’re available 7 days a week from 8-8 on 0808 808 00 00
You might also like to listen to this interview and see if it helps at all?
