Sorry this is a grey post. I had a meeting with Mr W ,he tells me my cancer has spread to my neck and abdominal wall . I gather chemo may keep it at bay for a while but I need to start planning for a very short future. I'm acting very matter of fact about the finality but inside I'm shattered. How do I get to grips with this , any advice on planning ahead would be appreciated
Phone call Tuesday and I was placed in the same situation myself.
I am exactly the same and acting very matter of fact about it.
Nearer the time I may fall to pieces possibly but if I do I realise it won’t help one bit.
One cold hard fact I keep thinking about is that we all will eventually die.
I say to those I talk to this, the only difference between you and me is the fact I know more about my passing than you do.
Its the cold hard reality of life for every living creature let alone humans.
Stay strong and realise everyone will be following us sooner or later.
Thank you , I went away for a few days to get my head round things and to get focus . Your words really helped, they are so true and well worth following. I've a chemo app on wed , their going to trand stop it spreading any further. I'll have to see how that goes but if it proves unsuccessful I'll stop it and enjoy the time I have completing my bucket list as far as I can
Thinking of you Africa1. Sorry to hear your recent news but certainly for my mum chemo did a pretty powerful job at containing the spread so I hope the same happens for you .
We will be here to support you .
take care ,

I had my meeting with the team and will start palative immunotherapy in two weeks after a scan to check for any new cancer. So im forward planning and adapting my diet to be as healthy as possible to deal with the side effects. It isn't a cure but it will give me the time to tick off items on a rather fun bucket list and build smiles into family photos
Some good results with Immunotherapy . Hope it gives you the time to do all that you have planned and make it a very long list .
It also seems a bit more tolerable than chemo according to people who have had both .
I wish you every success and lots of shrinkage .
Take care and I look forward to hearing all the fun things you have planned . That would be a good topic for a thread .

Looks like I'm going to have to speed up my bucket list, 1st is to go to my friend's wedding so gentle encouragement for one to propose lol. My back pain that was a niggle has increased a lot so I'muessing my scan before start of treatment will hold a surprise or two . I'll speak to the nurse tomorrow. Planning a trip to Skye in-between treatments 2nd on my list
. As my late brother said " Smile , and pass it on "
Be interested to know how you are going to encourage the proposal .
Hope the pain is under control also hoping it’s something that recedes with treatment !
I need to go to Skye too ! I have actually never been which might surprise you but i it’s one place that keeps slipping off the list . Maybe too frightened it would include a big hill climb but I have friends that moved there and it is one I want to go to . The other place I want to go back to is past Glencoe . Not been there for a while !
Keep the list coming .

I'm going to buy an outrageous wedding hat and send them a pic subtle huh and keep sending hints to encourage them.can't do hills either but can get a cottage by the water which will do me good then pace myself . Next on my list is a family photo session. I've always avoided photo taking moments they unnerve me so this will be a challenge . Take care and thank you for the reassuring words
Hi Africa 1 firstly I'm so sorry for your news. My husband is in exactly the same situation and we are taking every day as an extra day we never had. It's so hard for him to get his head around leavg me and our two boys just as hard as it is for me to be left without him. We've cried our tears and now just want to enjoy everything we possibly can while he's well. I so hope you can do everythin
you want in the time that you hsve. Sending lots of love
