Today I had to do more cardio tests after I was told at the previous one “oh they won’t like this” Blurting things like this at patients doesn’t really fill you with confidence. I know they have to tell you a certain amount but for me it’s overload and sends me to rock bottom again. You people had lifted me quite a lot and I was feeling more optimistic. So I’ve had the bike test and I’m medium risk but near the top end. Perhaps I can up my fitness a bit while I wait for surgery.

  • Court. Did your mum have a for tests?

This morning I was just about to leave for an appointment at the opticians when the hospital phoned again. Can I go back this afternoon for an electro cardiogram. No idea why this couldn’t have been done yesterday or if something has been flagged up again. It’s all very worrying.

I’ve had it done but I’m no wiser than I was because the technician ( if that’s his title) didn’t know why it had been requested. I guess I wait for the phone call. I wonder how people go on who have nobody to take them over there.

  • I think the results will go to the specialist to read. The technician may not be able to read results. I had a trainee nurse do mine. So please try and not worry about it. It sounds like the staff are all over the place.

    thanks again

  • Yes I thought it was. I had same by a trainee nurse it was part of the pre-op

This is a great place to get support and know that others have been through it and they’re okay.

  • Hi Poppsie,

Try not to worry about all these tests too much. My husband is 8 weeks post op and had them all, except the bike test. He has a laryngectomy, (Breathes through his neck) and they needed a special mask for him, which they didn't have! They decided that as he walked about 3 or 4 miles a day he would be OK!! Made us wonder how important it really was!!
