My husband has just had whole bowel removed, as he had cancerous tumour low down. Cancer hadn,t spread and I was told all was well. Today I got call to say he was being discharged and district nurse would come to give him anti clot jab and change his dressing. I have just read discharge form and it says poor prognosis and will continue to deteriorate rapidly. This has come out of the blue after being told all was well and nothing more. No discussions or conversations. I,m devastated . Has anyone else experienced this and if so what happened.
I have now spoken to gp stoma nurse, ward manager and colorectal nursing specialist. It was all a mistake and they have apologised and fully explained why the mistake happened. He is doing really well and I m feeling much relieved.. Hope it doesn,t happen to anyone else it's devastating but all sorted now. Thank you everyone x
