I'm looking at having to have APR surgery in the future. I am an equestrian and my question is will will I ever be able to ride a horse after my surgery?
Hi , I'm not entirely sure what the answer is to your question but most people go on to make a good recovery after the operation and can resume normal lives after a few months. You obviously won't be able to for the first few months after the op but I'd be surprised if you were advised to never ride again.
Your Macmillan Nurse should be able to provide more clarity :)
You will probably be the best person to answer that question after you've had the op. I had the same dilemma with whether to cycle again. It took me about 3 months to recover from the op but then I was using cushions for driving etc. Now I am back to normal and I do cycle but nothing like the distances I used to do simply because it becomes more and more uncomfortable the longer I am in the saddle. I have taken up hiking and still go jogging but cycling is just back and forth to the shops etc now. So I am sure you will be able to ride again but maybe not for long treks- it will all depend on how you feel.
