Hi all! My mom went for a colonoscopy a couple of weeks ago where they found a 35mm tumour and so had her ct scan friday. The dr seems to think they caught it early but we are worried any positive experience would be appreciated x
Hi jlutw1983 and welcome to the board. Bowel cancer is very treatable especially if caught early. I shall give you may usual advice which is to stay away from google - it is out of date and downright scary in places. You can ask anything you like on here - there is nothing too daft or embarrassing!
I was diagnosed with a 40mm tumour in 2016 - if you click on my name then you can see my treatment so far - and I’m just waiting for my scan results which will hopefully confirm that I’m still cancer free as are the 2 ladies then I buddied up with during my treatment.
The next couple of weeks waiting for scan results and meetings can be very stressful but once there is a treatment plan in place then things will honestly feel a bit better
Take care

jlutw1983, yes the waiting is rough, but hopefully it hasn't spread. My tumour was large but hadn't quite escaped through the bowel wall! Just ask anything on here, someone is bound to have been there, there are so many tweaks to the treatment to get the best for each individual.
Take care
Not sure in current climate. My brother got seen scanned operated on (prostate) in the recommended times earlier this year. A friend with breast cancer has also got through quickly. Bowel cancer is slow growing but that doesn't stop the worry worms!! Sorry not much help! But keep talking, that helps the mind worms.
Hi jlutw1983. Hopefully the scan results will come through quickly but it can probably vary in each health authority area. Once the specialists have all the information they will discuss your mum in the weekly meeting and agree on a treatment plan. Even if there is some spread there are still a lot of treatments available but it sounds like the doctors are quietly confident from what they’ve seen so far.
Ive attached a link to the booklet that I was given when first diagnosed which is really good and introduces you to some of the people and terminology that you might come across

Hi
It is a worrying time. I actually like the timed between getting the Colonoscopy result and the scan results. I have a 15 year old daughter and that waiting period gave us time to process the cancer diagnosis to be ready for the more detailed reports from the scans. I too was advised to stay away from Google and after hopping on for a few minutes I decided to take the advice given. I stick to McMillan And the NHS site. Kareno62 is right, Google is out of date and scary in places. I am undergoing chemo at the moment having had surgery first. I am surprised at just how well it has all gone and fallen into place. Sometimes it has just been putting one foot in-front of the other and going through the motions of the next appt ect.,when I did not know what else to do. Life is good right now. Take care, hugs to you. Ali
