Hi
My wife was recently diagnosed with Stage 3B rectal tumour and is due to start Chemo next week. We had three cruises booked between now and next year and the first was a mini cruise on Queen Mary 2 at the end of the month. The Oncologist thought we could probably still take tat one fitting in around the chemo. Cunard said they were happy so long as we had a ‘fit to fly’ letter but when I phoned the travel insurance (we have had the policy for over six months and covers cruise plus) about the Cancer diagnosis they said. That cover for our holidays was declined!
I don’t understand as we took out the policy long before the cancer diagnosis so are they really able to just cancel our policy and therefore refuse to pay out on our holiday costs that we have already paid? The Summer cruise was almost £9000 which we have paid for in full.
Hi DavidP!. A lot of insurers don’t cover people with cancer but surely they should either be paying out if you have to cancel the holiday or refunding your premium? Have you posted this on the holiday insurance site too? There might be someone there who’s had a similar experience?

Hi DavidP!
It doesn't seem right if you had the insurance cover before diagnoses - after all that's what insurance is for! Have a look at this link below regarding what you can do.
Hope you get it sorted quickly and without any further stress.
Best wishes,
