Hi everyone, my mum will be 81 soon and has just had a colonoscopy a few days ago where they have found.bowel cancer!! We are waiting for the ct scans to come back from her abdomen and chest. But they have said they won't operate has she's to vulnerable, she's lost alot of weight and feels full quickly when she.eats.. I'm 50 and lost my dad 2 years ago, I'm trying to be strong for my mum but I don't know what to expect.. I struggled with my dad's death and I'm dreading all what is to come.. I just hope I've got her for awhile yet but I also don't want her to suffer.. any advice would be grateful and to make friends who are going through this too. Thank you x
Hi Leb17
Welcome to the forum . So sorry you are facing this difficult situation !
Have you met with an oncologist ?
Bowel cancer can be very slow growing so it would be very hard to predict timescales even for the drs !
We have a carers forum which you might find helpful for information on how best to support your mum !
Our helpline staff 0808 808 0000 might also be able to guide you on how best to prepare for the future!
There is a lot of experience in managing bowel cancer on this forum so hopefully we will be able to support you as you assist your mum !
You clearly have a lovely relationship!
Take care ,
Court

Hi Court thank you for your lovely message! I’ve had colorectal cancer 6 years ago I’ve had mets removed successfully my CT scan was last month so we knew lung mets needed removing I’ve had my lung function test so was ready for op anytime! (as you say slow growing as I’ve had them a year) … but suddenly to get a appointment today to see oncologist next week has been stressful …
