Hi
I’m getting so frustrated and scared . I was told by drs in A&E last week that my colonoscopy and liver scan would be done by this week . So when the surgeons met next week on Tuesday and Friday they would have all the information.
so I do have colonoscopy on Friday . But I was called and ask to go In Thursday . However I received an email saying to come Friday .
I’ve been ringing around since yesterday trying to sort this out . As nobody seems to know anything .
today I also chased up regarding liver scan It took me all morning to find someone who could help . When I got through .lThe lady said to me . You were booked through A&E that takes up to four weeks .
i said . But this is urgent , they said a week at the most.
she replied they always do .
I then again explained the urgency, she said she will look into it and arrange it for hopefully next week.
so that means I’ll miss the deadline for the meeting the specialist have . So I’ll be waiting longer .
is this the norm ?
I just don’t feel up to all this confusion. Not sure if there’s someone higher up I can speak to or leave it and see what the scan department can do about getting me next week
I’m just concerned another week will pass and I’ll be lost in the system again .
Hi
I think it would be only fair to expect a scan before four weeks but certainly would be the normal to wait a couple of weeks ! The MDT meetings meet regularly so it can happen that scans have not been carried out or reported before the next MDT and it carries on to the following one !
I think it’s important you did give that a push as that could have sat there for a bit and then had to wait for an MDT meeting ! I do however think it’s pretty poor you have to do the pushing on this !
Scans also require to be reported before they give the information to a patient and you will also find that delay a bit of a pain !
If I remember correctly you are getting a colonoscopy so hopefully they you will get a named consultant through that ! Get a hold of it !
Also they will want your cell type of information to decide the best plan for you ! I take it that is why you are having a colonoscopy? Please correct me if I am wrong !
This part is frustrating as it is full of stops and starts ! However I can reassure you it does get easier to navigate and you will get a dedicated oncologist who will do this for you !

Hi court
thank you for you reply. I don’t know why I’m having a colonoscopy done. I couldn’t take anything in . I was on my own , when they gave me the news .I didn’t really absorb any information. Bits and pieces keep coming back to me . But not much . It’s like trying to remember a dream .
I guess I’ll find out why on Thursday.
Normally at a colonoscopy they take some biopsies! This then goes to histology and takes around two weeks to get the cell information back ! This combined with the scans to give a fuller picture of your tumour type and the best chemotherapy options for you !
A lot of information to gather together but it’s really important to get the details correct as this shapes future options !
Take care ,
