Hi my name is Janet
I was diagnosed with Bowel Cancer which as now gone Secondary, to my lung had a couple of nodes moved from my lung in 2018 at that point I didn't have to have follow up treatment like I did when I had my op for Bowel cancer . That was my first round of chemo . And was glad to learn that my Cancer had gone , but that was short lived started with a cough and then chest infection. When I had my routine scan which I did every 4/6 months my Cancer had returned but was now in my lung , they was not duely concerned as they said there was only 2 nodes and they could operate to remove them . Went into hospital to have my Op all went well and didn't need mop up treatment this time having a routine scan was told my Cancer had gone stage 4 in a few places now , so they arranged for me to have a pet scan . The results were not too good but again they were not dually concerned as it wasn't growing that quick or aggressive but that it could not be cured but managed , so I agrees to have targeted treatment , but unfortunately spent most my time in hospital as was really poorly . So now I have given up with treatment as I want more quality of life than quantity, but I have been experiencing alot of pain in different areas my palliative team are great and helping me manage my pain , but I am still not getting the quality I am looking for. Just had another scan as keep getting chest infection and Bowel infection , not had results yet hopefully no news is good news . Was just wondering if anyone is that stage as I would like to hear from them
Hi
https://community.macmillan.org.uk/cancer_experiences/living-with-incurable-cancer-forum
I have linked in a forum that I wonder might be helpful to you if I am reading your post right ! There are other bowel cancer patients that are members of both forums and easily work between the two !
Whilst they may have different primaries also they are looking at how to live a quality life whilst acknowledging that it can’t be cured and they do cover a lot of the issues you are raising ! There is a lot of knowledge to be found there !
Always better to come from someone with more knowledge and experience!
It is a patient only forum and that allows for a lot of honest communication in this section ! There is a separate one for relatives/friends !
Take care ,

Hi
I completely understand it can take some time to link in with people who are in the same position ! I have asked the CC over in that forum to give you a warm welcome !
You are of course very welcome to use both groups as it’s just whatever meets your needs at the time !
They will however have more information on symptom control etc and that might be of interest to you to see how that side of care is managed ! They also have a lot of other interesting threads on life etc !
Take care ,
