Hi all I was wondering if anyone can help I have had my large bowel removed surgeon said he'd removed as much if tbe rectum as he could now I read something on another site that you have to have it all removed within 5 years because it can become cancerous?
Any one got views on this.
Also if I only have my stump there I won't be able to have a colonoscopy is that right ?
Hi HazG
I honestly would listen to your surgeon on this one ! They follow closely the current research ! My understanding regarding surgery is they are looking for clear surgical margins ! If they achieve clear margins there should not be any cancer left to regrow unless a person is unfortunate enough have a second primary!
If that person’s information was correct I am sure the surgeons would change their practice!
Take care ,
