Hi start a week course of radiation on tumour in rectram in 10 days. Is there anything I should be aware of bad side effects as I am having chemo after this all the info became a bit of blur. Have a stoma so the bowel problem will not affect me so much thanks
Hi . I didn’t really have any side effects if I’m honest but I’ve attached a link below just so you have a heads up.
The radiographers keep a close eye on you and I was given a shower wash to use and also a cream to rub into the area being treated. It’s important to only use the creams that they give you as creams like sudocream may contain zinc oxide and shouldn’t be used. You may feel tired and experience diarrhoea but, as you say, that will just mean emptying the bag a bit more often
Hope it goes well
Take care

Hi AllanA1due
I had chemo first, then one week of radiation for my rectal cancer. I had lots of side-effects from the chemo but was pleasantly surprised when I was absolutely fine with the radiation. I have a stoma and I did notice increased mucus output from my rectum, which stopped a couple of weeks after the radiation stopped.
Good luck, hope it goes well x
Thanks for replie. At least I get radiation out of the way before I start the chemo. Not looking forward to that but needs must to kick this tumour and kill it
