Im half way through my chemo treatment i know its tough dealing with physical health but how do people deal with mental health i try to keep busy when i feel well enough but  how do people cope when they feeling too unwell to do anything i worry about my mental health

  • Sorry that went off before I was ready . Above is a link to emotional well-being guidance and it also includes information on how to get six counselling sessions through Macmillan. A lot of people have taken up this offer and found it beneficial . Just putting some safeguards in round their mental health the same way they address their physical health and found it beneficial ! You can get more information from our helpline staff if you like 0808 808 0000. They are also just there for back up support . There is a telephone buddy system too!

I found as a relative my GP a great source of support but it seems to depend on how good they are in the first place but they have a big role to play regarding the mental health side and a wealth of experience.

I think you are very , very wise !

  • Hi, , it would be worth asking at your hospital, probably the oncologist (I didn't get a specific oncology nurse) if there is a local Macmillan counselor available to get a referral to. I got referred about 2/3 through my 30weeks as it was starting to tell on me. I also found the trial nurses very helpful, as at this stage they checked in on me every couple of weeks as I'd said I'd  go on the trial if accepted. (((Hugs)))

  • hi  I've suffered badly with my mental health to the point I've ended up on antidepressants and ended up in a bad way, it's hard when you feel tired and weak due to chemo but I've found My family aHeartgreat support and trying to do a bit of gardening when I've felt well enough.... Heart Cathy x
