I am seeking advice. I have had my 3rd round of Folfox and after 3 days I became impacted in my rectum,  which was distressing.  I managed to soften the stool by taking lactulose and senokot. Usually I go once a day, in the morning and when that doesn't happen I start to not go at all.

I've needed Senokot at night to move things since then.

It's like my bowels have gone to sleep.

Has anyone got any advice on laxatives, I think I will need this on going. I thought about getting fybrogel sachets tomorrow.

I eat fibre, having All Bran every morning, fruit and vegetables every day, I also drink water as much as possible.

Thank you.

  • Hi there.

I was told that fibre was my problem that it is mass forming (Fybogel being the culprit in my case). Now on Movicol twice a day things have been much better. Until today where things have slowed down again.

Obviously our bowels are all different and I always pass things by the Specialist Nurses first.

    Hope you get it sorted.

Thank you.  It's difficult to know what to do for the best. I will ring my colorectal nurses tomorrow.

  • Hope you get it sorted. Seems different things work for different people.
