Hi just returned home after colon operation for cancer removed on discharge notes it says t4 does that mean stage4 ? Little confused
Hi Lavender60 delighted to tell you it is not . It is the tumour penetration level through the bowel wall .
https://www.macmillan.org.uk/cancer-information-and-support/bowel-cancer/staging-and-grading-of-bowel-cancer
I have included a link that gives you a diagram. If it has travel to a different location away from the primary sites like liver , lung or distant lymph node spread ( not lymph nodes near the primary tumour) it’s diagnosis as stage 4 and that is recorded under the capital M . No spread would be M0 , a spread may be recorded as M1.
Hope that helps and many people wonder about that one !
Take care ,

Hi Lavender60
They would have told you if it had spread ! They are very honest about it . They don’t sugar coat it so I really think they would have said .
Your specialist nurse could reassure you if your at all worried !
