Today we found out that my husband is now palliative and will be starting immunotherapy soon to prolong he's life we have taken this really hard so have our families but now a relative has suggested my husband try dog wormer as a cure for cancer! This is the most bizarre thing I have ever heard I mean we are obviously desperate for my husband to survive this but surely dog wormer isn't the way forward and my husband said he would try it but I'm scared about him trying things incase it causes more damage than good has anyone else heard this or even tried it?
Honestly Hayleyc89 I think you should phone your oncologist or our helpline staff 0808 808 0000 . Immunotherapy is achieving so much and I would stick with proven scientific guidance not someone’s latest idea . I would not touch it given it’s a bowel tumour he has and you don’t want to end up ill before starting treatment.
People mean well, I have had the bizarre to the sublime suggested but my mum stuck with the well researched treatments. Someone even said to me it was good that my mum knew she had a shorter life span as she could go out and spend her money in the shops ! Another person handed in an alternative book on a specific diet . Had she followed either of these she would have not had enough money for the last twelve years and missed the opportunity to get the treatment that has given her the last twelve years .
If you look at some of the American cancer sites you will see threads of patients still clear three and four years into Immunotherapy treatment . To the point the dilemma is now when does the oncologist start to reduce treatment . Palliative care is very , very different to terminal care . Although they can’t guarantee a cure it can go on for years like in my mum’s situation . The full seven years of active treatment was classed as palliative care .
But please speak to our helpline staff or his oncologist before trying anything like that .
Take care ,

Thank you Court I do not want him to try anything that isn't given to him from a medical professional I know people do mean well but it's really frustrating I wish people would stop putting things in he's head and just let the professional team treat him with things that are scientifically proven! I have read really good things about the immunotherapy so personally I just want him to try that and nothing else. X
I totally understand. Someone told my mum to cut out all dairy products. No idea why . She promptly lost three stones and her weight was dangerously low whilst on chemo ! Of course they weren’t around to help put that right !
I knew they were all coming from a good place but it left me with more to deal with when I least needed it !
I have asked the team and will let you know if they come up with anything !

Thank you so much. I have emailed he's nurse and told her that he is contemplating taking it I'm hoping she has some words of advice for him too. I'm sure if there was some kind of miracle cure such as dog wormer or cbd oil then so many people wouldn't be suffering from this horrible disease :(
Hi Hayleyc89
I found a research article from a dr who admitted a lady with raised liver enzymes. These reduced just by going into hospital . The team spoke further with the family and discovered she had self administered dog dewormer tablets . On removal in hospital her liver enzymes reduced . They concluded that it could have been the contributing factor .
Hope that helps a bit .

Great to hear that Hayleyc89 I know it took a lot out of you to get this resolved but you have done a good thing . He is at a low point just now and people don’t understand he is far from being out of options in fact he has one of the best on the table . It’s a lack of understanding really !
It tires you and stretches your limited reserves further than it needs to be . But it’s full steam ahead and a good plan in place .
Take care.
