Does anyone know when it is ok to drink alcohol post surgery. I had my hemicolectomy 18 June and I have a friend’s party next week and would love a glass or two of red wine. I have finished all the post op meds. Thanks in advance.
Hi WillaD. Personally I don’t see why not although it may go straight to your head and bottom so watch out for loose stools! You could run it past the nurses on here if you wanted to be sure on 0808 808 00 00 x
Oh thank you Kareno62. That’s a really good point. I was never a big boozer as the body says no after a few glasses of anything so I am already a lightweight. Best to try a glass at home first! The loos are a far way off from where we will be seated so I will see how the trial at home goes! Good points and thank you again!
A glass of wine doesn't hurt anyone. And I, after having an operation on my back, drank a glass of wine on a friend's birthday. Worse when you consume a lot and don't stop like another good friend has done this for three years now. Already with his family, I convinced him that he should undergo detox treatment at the fherehab.com clinic to give up alcohol. We could hardly convince him, but he chose to listen to us. He is already slowly starting to rebuild his previous life, he has found a new girlfriend, and he intends to get married. So excited for him!
