Hi, I once had 5FU cream for a solar keratoma on my face, and I had to make sure I washed my hand after putting it on. Else the chemo would 'attack' my finger !!!! So maybe this is the reason for not touching the tablets???
What I don't get is if its not good to touch tablets then why aren't we told at the start? Mind you when I had my first infusion they didn't even know it was my first one!!
I was told not to let anyone else touch the tablets of capecitabine but never told that I couldnt.did use to wash my hands well afterwards tho.strange we are all given different advice.
Hi Karen. I think you have summed up practically everything needed to prepare anyone for chemo perfectly and this will be a great help to those people who are, understandably, worried sick about it. If only I had known about all this before my wife began her first chemo treatment as we were totally unprepared. Well done Karen x
