In light of the question re live yogurt/ blue cheese. I’m about to start my chemotherapy and planning my diet. Following several courses of antibiotics I have been making kefir with water/ coconut water, and fruit. Is it ok to carry on drinking kefir throughout my treatment ?
Hi
I honestly have no idea but you could ask our helpline staff 0808 808 0000
I will also tag in one of our other CC s as I saw them mention it Nikki65 and I think she said was told to stop it as it was also a “ live “ product whilst on treatment !
Your oncologist will also be able to advise you too.
Good question and It is interesting how this subject has brought other questions to the surface.
Also before I go a big welcome to the forum . I hope your chemo therapy goes smoothly .
Take care ,

Hi ,
I drink goats milk kefir each morning, I started this after my diagnosis. I contacted the place I get my kefir (chuckling goat) & they advised against taking it throughout my treatment because of the live bacteria element, I went on to contact my oncologist & he advised likewise. I started back with the kefir around 6-8 weeks after my treatment had finished if I remember correctly.
Hope that helps.
Nicola
