Is it safe to eat some blue cheese, Stilton, and live yoghourt with stage 4 bowel colorectal cancer please?
Hi
I will ask the admin team if they have any information on it . I read online of you have low white blood cell levels you should avoid live yogurt etc ! So you could be correct .
I will see if we can get an answer to that !
Think it would cover anyone with low white blood cell count .

I asked this question when I was undergoing Chemo treatment last year.....& was told that it was dependant on the Particular cancer you have. I was told that my Capecitabine Chemo. Tabs. were fine to eat these products.

This is an interesting topic that I don’t think has come up before . The leaflet from guys seems to suggest to be careful due to infection and low neutrophils.
Another CC has advised that blood cancers have to avoid it . Hopefully Macmillan can shed some light on it

Hi Astridian, an interesting question. I was stage 3 not 4 and was on Capox for a while. Although I didn't ask the question somewhere it was suggested not to eat blue cheese, I don't remember about yoghurt.
I understand that the theory is that if your immune system is low then the bacteria in such a product could make you ill. However I haven't seem anything that it would affect your treatment. A lover of blue cheese I did cut it down but carried on with live greek style yoghourt.
On reflection I think that if this is food you have eaten for years your system should be pretty used to it and providing it is fresh and not been in the back of a fridge for a month or two I would be surprised it would harm you.
This is a non medical personal opinion, I would be interested to hear the professional viewpoint.
I hope that your treatment is going ok for you and that you have a successful outcome celebrated with, among other things, some stilton and a glass of red wine.
All the best, John
