Hi. I fully appreciate that getting your hair done is not a major issue in the wider scheme of things when dealing with cancer however, can anyone give me some advice about it. My wife has just finished her Chemo sessions and will be starting her Radiotherapy treatment on the 5th July. We have a family wedding to go to next week and she desperately want's to attend as she feels that it might be the last time that many of our family will see her in alive in case her treatments don't work. She's not morbid, just being realistic as she has she has stage 4 cancer. Anyway, she is worried about her appearance, especially her hair and would like to get her roots done. She was therefore wondering if this would be possible as one of our neighbours says that it can't be done.

Thanks Phoebe. I will definitely let her know. xx
Mr. Mac it may not be 'the most important issue' but it is still important! Our hair is such an important part of our identity and our lack of hair is the same! I used Clairol root touch up in the 'week off' chemo. My hair still looked like straw but it wasn't grey straw!! Source out a decent hairdresser with knowledge of hair and cancer. There are quite a few. They can use a bleach free henna which will be super mild.
Hi Mr Mac,
I've also used Loreal root spray, was pretty good. My favourite is W7 root touch up about £7, comes in various shades. Available online, check prices as they can vary. Much cheaper than a well known branded one. It's a solid powder with a small brush, it's good for doing the hairline where the spray can be quite messy. The spray's good for bigger areas. Nothing wrong with wanting to look your best. Think it can help us feel a bit better. You're a lovely husband trying to sort this for your wife. Hope you both enjoy the wedding.

Thanks so much Cheryl for getting back to me. I will pass on your advice to my wife and hopefully we can tackle those pesky roots to give her a wee boost to her confidence. I am glad I have received some suggestions from people on the forum to help me when I go into the shops looking for hair products as there's nothing worse that a totally bald man hanging around hair product shelfs.
Many thanks x
