Its probably the million dollar question but has anyone found the answer to how to recover a bit of energy while on cheno pills. I did 3 oxyplatine IV's after tumours removed in surgery in bowel and liver /had 47 clear lymph nodes so what I naively thought would be gentle mop up chemo (6 mnths) has proved beyond vicious to tolerate for me where the IV was concerned . My oncologist consented to me doing just 3 and now completing with the capecetimine pills (2 wks each time then a week off). I am desperate to feel more vital than I do but is that possible. Am in bed every other day feeling wrecked and I know manynon this site are also feeling the same. I dont really have an appetite as everything goes through me. Any advice for what I can take to recover energy ?
Hi Perfavore
I am in a very similar situation to you. The side effects for the Oxy neuropathy were also very, very bad and I was given two weeks off to recover. Having spoken to oncology yesterday I have the option of the cap only. In terms of regaining energy, I found that I was OK once I was moving but it was the getting up that was the most difficult. I'm a bit of a dissident so was taking Vit D supplements (especially justifiable when the weather was so shit). If I could get into a 10/15 minute HIIT workout it really helped massively just to kick start the metabolism but again, the starting was near on impossible.
You may find that the oxy hasn't left your system yet and you will feel better as time goes on? During this two weeks I have ever only started to feel remotely better in the last couple of days.
Many thanks for your reply Elley very helpful. I do find when the dog demands a walk i do feel better. Are you taking the caps only option? I just felt very strongly I want a good body back after this is over and continuing with Oxy would not have guaranteed that so i hope like me you feel confident to stop if your oncologist agrees as I think we are protecting ourselves in the long run. Best of luck!
Oh to you too!! I think I feel confident yes. I just know that pins and needles in my mouth and 15 day periods is NOT HAPPENING!!
Post chemo I have plans to use: Stapower vitamins, Vit D, Aloe Vera juice concentrate, apple cider vinegar, a strong fish oil like Krill or something similar.
I miss feeling good and chemo sucks the joy out of everything doesn't it.
God it does. My hair looks like it was caught in an electrical storm - dry and flat, the hideous feeling my feet are on fire and at the same time that I am stepping on glass, and am not enjoying the memory loss. Am paranoid about my breath as these pills promised that side effect as a charming part of the list altho so far have escaped the dreaded mouth sores! I know this is all life saving but christ does it suck the will to get up in the morning sometimes. Many thanks for list of what you will use post treatment. Thats what i cant wait for, taking care of myself with supplements, good food etc. I am also going to a wonderful healing clinic in spain in october for some post treatment therapies ie massage , hikes etc. Its called the Sha Clinic and just 4 day stay will restore! Do look it up if of course we can travel then its only 2.5 hr flight to alicante then 40.mins transfer. The sun is what we need!
