So I am day 3 post chemo feeling lot better this time had to spend 11 hours in hospital having chemo and fluids again!!!
They are stopping at 6 because my kidneys are taking a bashing at first I thought thank good but now people have been saying things none medical people like that won't be enough you may still have it etc so Lillie doubts creeping in now.
I was cancer free entering chemo it was a mop up just to be cautious so my surgeon and oncologist tell me, I will have had six once finished.
What will they do when chemo stops ?
One thing I learnt early on is to filter out non medical peoples good intentions. Stick with the medics and scientists, they have thoroughly investigated it . They work on a risk / benefits analysis. They know when to stop before creating irreversible damage to some other vital organ . If your team thinks there is a possibility then they will act particularly in a mop up situation .
After chemo stops they start surveillance scans . “ Nice “ guidelines dictate the frequency. The other thing to remember about bowel cancer the recurrence rates dramatically drop after two years . Not saying it never happens but the statistics become much more favourable.
take care ,
