Hi all,

I've just had a secondary rectal cancer removed from my lung in February. I have to have a CT scan every three months and will have them for the next 10 years.

I want to go back to work but I'm wondering if my previous cancer diagnosis will hinder me? I want to be honest with my new employers when I do find a new job. But I'm wondering if I'll ever get another Job as will my new employers be put off by it?

, I stand to be corrected, but I believe that they cannot discriminate on grounds of cancer, as it comes under the disability act. Good luck job hunting.

Great to think about returning to work . Our helpline staff have all the information about employment rights if you want to ask them .

Hi yes as Gemmary says it would be descrimination. Have a look at the link below and then I think there’s a booklet that you can access?

Hi Karen,

Thank you for your reply. I'm not sure if I'm fit enough to go back to work but it's a worry I constantly have. My mental health still suffers and I'm not as fit as I used to be. Since my first diagnosis and I'm unable to deal with stress of any kind. But I know life goes on and I don't want to feel stuck forever. I need to move forward.
